In October 2016, I travelled with my colleagues Maarten van Heems and Rosine Tchemeu to Bamako in Mali to kick off a 4 year NUFFIC program. In collaboration with ICRA, MetaMeta and SupAgro we will strengthen the capacities of 4 Higher Education Institutions in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
This was the first time for all of us to meet, and we got to know each other better and had in-depth discussions on the logical framework and broader outlines and principles of the program during 2 days. A field visit was included, as well to a so-called ‘living laboratory’ and various stakeholders were visited such as the Dutch Embassy to explain in more details the results we would like to achieve and how we intend to collaborate. It was an eye-opening mission to me, as I realized that there is still a lot to learn from/in the educational sector on IWRM. I am very happy to be part of this energetic group of people and looking forward to starting the collaboration!
